2013 Goals

Last year was a successful year. Mr Cannes and I have reached financial independence from our rental income. I reduced several recurring payments including lowering vehicle insurance, house insurance and internet service. My rental properties thrived as they have been for the last 4 years While I added 1 more property to my portfolio. Finally, I bought a modest house that I’m planning to live in for the next 20 years.
2013 has some new challenges for me. They stem mostly from moving into a new house and fine tuning our food expenses.

Mortgage prepayment
- assign $3000/mo of extra lump sum payments to repay mortgage in 5 years
- track expenses to reach this goal

Reduce utility costs
- increase attic insulation to R60
- increase wall insulation if not insulated
- do laundry and dishwasher during low cost times
- take shorter showers, 15 min instead of 30 min
- program programmable thermostat

Track food budget
- shop for groceries with a list, remain at under $400 for 2 adults
- limit money spent on outside food to $1000/yr

- replace $500/mo leased car with reliable low cost car by assigning lease

- reduce allowance from $500/mo to $250/mo each

What goals do you have planned for 2013?
